Patrick Smith is the Principal at O'Brien & Smith Lawyers, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to his role. Born and raised in Horsham, Patrick pursued his tertiary education in Adelaide, achieving a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), a Bachelor of Economics, and a Bachelor of International Studies from the University of Adelaide. He later completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at The College of Law and further enhanced his expertise with qualifications from Kaplan Professional in Self Managed Super Funds and Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning. Patrick's legal career is marked by his commitment to his community and the law. In 2017, he returned to Horsham to start a family and joined the firm he now leads. His deep connection to the rural community extends beyond law, with a personal history tied to farming. Patrick has a profound understanding of the challenges faced by farmers, drawing from his experience with his family's sheep farm in the Mallee. As President of the Wimmera Law Association since 2019, Patrick plays a pivotal role in local legal developments. His commitment to justice is evident in his volunteer work with Refugee Legal and his directorial role at Allied Justice. Admitted to the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of South Australia, Patrick's professional journey is characterised by a passion for legal excellence and community service. When he's not working, Patrick enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and has recently taken up golf following his retirement from football and cricket.
