Peta Kava

Peta Kava is the Managing Director and Principal Solicitor at NEW Law, having assumed the role in April 2025 after serving as Joint Managing Director since 2024. She brings extensive experience spanning both healthcare and legal fields, which uniquely positions her to advocate effectively for her clients. Peta’s career began in paediatric nursing, where she practised for over 15 years before transitioning to law. Admitted as a Solicitor in 1998, she initially worked with RL Whyburn & Associates and served as a Senior Investigations Officer at the Health Care Complaints Commission. From 2004 to 2010, Peta provided legal support to members of the NSW Nurses’ Association, specialising in Coroner’s matters and professional conduct issues. Since joining NEW Law in 2011, Peta has focused on advising injured workers regarding their rights and entitlements, guiding them through claims related to workplace injuries. Her background as a nurse informs her commitment to supporting healthcare professionals, particularly nurses who are facing challenges in their careers.
