About Spiros

Spiros Mihalatos was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2015. Over the years, he has gained substantial experience working with a range of boutique law firms in the Sydney CBD, enriching his knowledge across various legal disciplines. Together with his sister, Esmae, Spiros established Mihalatos & Associates Solicitors, motivated by a desire to reintroduce a family-like approach to legal practice, focused on personalised client care. Spiros’s practice encompasses a broad spectrum of legal areas, with a strong focus on corporate and commercial law. He frequently advises technology start-ups and small to medium enterprises, assisting them to manage legal risks and supporting the growth and success of their businesses. His approach is grounded in a keen interest in interpreting the law, simplifying complex legal issues, and delivering practical, efficient solutions tailored to his clients’ needs. His expertise includes corporate and commercial transactions, where he drafts, reviews and negotiates key commercial agreements to accurately reflect his clients’ intentions and safeguard their interests. He also prepares corporate governance documents, such as shareholders’ agreements, and assists businesses with drafting terms and conditions for their goods and services. Spiros provides advice to business owners and technology companies on compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), ensuring their privacy policies meet regulatory requirements. In employment law, he supports business owners in understanding and fulfilling their obligations under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), offering guidance on compliance strategies. He also advises on corporate succession planning, designing corporate structures aimed at asset protection and risk minimisation. Additionally, Spiros offers assistance in commercial and retail leasing matters. His broad litigation experience includes civil disputes such as debt recovery and council development consent issues, as well as intellectual property conflicts. He also advises on and handles apprehended personal and domestic violence orders. Spiros holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Macquarie University. He is admitted as a Solicitor and Barrister of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and the St George-Sutherland Law Society.
