Chrissy Trueman leads the Family Law division on the Gold Coast, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to her role. Her career in family law began in 1998 when she was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in Hobart, Tasmania. She later transitioned to the Gold Coast in 2007, enhancing her practice with a blend of private law and public sector experience, including her role as Counsel for the Legal Aid Commission in Tasmania. As the Head of Family Law at Michael Lynch Family Lawyers, Chrissy offers expertise in resolving family law disputes, prioritising alternative dispute resolution methods while skilfully navigating the litigation process when required. Her work includes negotiating complex financial agreements and representing clients in parenting and property matters within the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, along with appearances in domestic violence courts and relevant tribunals. Chrissy is committed to alleviating the emotional and financial burdens of legal proceedings on her clients. Her approach is client-focused, especially when it comes to the safety of children and parties, consistently striving to minimise conflict through mediation. As a Nationally Accredited Mediator, she effectively conducts and attends various dispute resolution forums, including mediations and settlement conferences. Her legal acumen is complemented by her background in investment, banking, and finance, enabling her to manage intricate property settlements with precision. Chrissy employs strategic and early dispute resolution techniques, favouring negotiation, mediation, and arbitration to achieve beneficial outcomes for her clients. With over 25 years in family law, Chrissy has handled cases involving married, de facto, and same-sex relationships, often addressing issues involving third parties. Her passion for her field is reflected in her successful mediation record and her commitment to client-centric solutions. Beyond her professional life, Chrissy enjoys balancing her dedication to law with her personal passions. Whether enjoying family time, cooking, travelling, or exploring her interest in art and sculpture, she finds joy in life's various pursuits. Her dynamic approach to both her professional and personal life exemplifies a harmonious balance that benefits her clients and enriches her everyday experiences. She holds esteemed qualifications, including an MBA, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tasmania. Her professional engagements include membership in the Queensland Law Society, the Law Council of Australia – Family Law Section, and the Family Law Practitioners Association (Qld). She has also served as Past President of Tasmanian Women Lawyers and as a Board Member of Australian Women Lawyers.
