About Matthew
Matthew Ellis is a Director at MGB Legal with over 30 years of experience in the legal profession. He focuses on property and commercial law, with substantial expertise in wills and estates. Matthew primarily works within the firm’s property law section, advising clients on matters including leasing, property development, conveyancing for both business and land, franchising, small business legal matters, strata titles, and general commercial law such as corporate compliance. He has a strong interest in property development and has supported clients on projects ranging from small subdivisions of a few lots to large-scale, multi-level mixed-use developments with over 100 apartments. In addition to property law, Matthew offers advice on trusts, business structures, wills, and estate planning, assisting clients in managing and protecting their assets. Matthew serves as the solicitor to the Australian Institute of Conveyancers (WA Division) and previously held the role of solicitor for the Business Brokers Association of Western Australia. Through these roles, he regularly provides legal advice and support to members of the conveyancing and business broking professions. In recognition of his contributions to the conveyancing industry, Matthew received the “Bruce Thurston” award from the Australian Institute of Conveyancers (WA Division) in 2013, marking the first occasion a practising lawyer was honoured with this award. Outside his professional commitments, Matthew enjoys supporting his children’s activities, often providing what he humourously describes as an extensive taxi service.
