Hugh Steele

Hugh was admitted to legal practice in December 1985 following his graduation from the University of Adelaide. He commenced his distinguished career in the picturesque Barossa Valley, where he spent fifteen years honing his skills in a variety of legal areas in Tanunda. In August 2001, Hugh transitioned to Mt Barker, joining the reputable firm of Mead Robson Steele and rapidly ascended to partnership, demonstrating his exceptional commitment and expertise. Hugh provides seasoned counsel in a diverse range of legal matters. His proficiency encompasses matrimonial and de facto property settlements, commercial and leasing transactions, as well as complex business sales and purchases. Additionally, Hugh is adept at handling real estate conveyancing, wills, estate planning, and succession strategies. His vast experience extends to sundry civil litigation, offering comprehensive legal solutions to his clients. Beyond these areas, Hugh has contributed substantially in the domain of planning and local governance. His experience includes advising both Councils and applicants, drafting a variety of Council By-Laws, and managing the collection of rates for multiple Councils. He is notably experienced in orchestrating auction sales for the non-payment of rates and handling the intricate conveyancing processes that follow. Outside his legal practice, Hugh has been a pivotal community figure since 1990 through his involvement with Apex. He remains an active Senior Member of the Mount Barker Apex Club. Moreover, Hugh serves on the Board of the Stirling Hospital, where he continues to apply his leadership skills for community benefit.
