About Paul
Paul McGrath is the principal lawyer at McGrath & Co. Lawyers, bringing a wealth of experience in commercial law, wills and estates, litigation and disputes, as well as family law. He began his association with the firm in 1987, taking a brief period to practise in Sydney before returning in 1992 to continue his practice in Burnie, where he was born and raised. Educated locally at Marist Regional College in Burnie, Paul completed a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Tasmania. He was admitted as a practitioner to the Supreme Courts of Tasmania and New South Wales in 1987 and is also listed on the High Court of Australia’s Roll of Practitioners. Paul has held the role of company secretary for an international corporation, reflecting his broad commercial expertise. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and actively participates in legal professional groups, including the Family Law Practitioners Association of Tasmania and the Family Law Division of the Law Council of Australia. In his capacity as the principal lawyer, Paul oversees all aspects of the firm’s files and operations. He applies his extensive knowledge and experience to guide the team towards achieving the best and most effective outcomes for clients. Beyond his legal practice, Paul is passionate about the agricultural sector and Catholic education. He has contributed to the community through his involvement with the Burnie Show Society and the board of Marist Catholic College. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time on the water with friends and family.
