Tegan Martens

Tegan is the Director and Principal Lawyer at Martens Legal, bringing nearly a decade of experience from traditional law firms before establishing her own practice in 2017. Her decision to found Martens Legal was driven by a commitment to create a client-focused environment aligned with her core values, where both she and her team can maintain fulfilling careers while balancing various roles in life. Tegan’s approach to family law is grounded in compassion and practical guidance, supporting clients through some of life’s most challenging times. She places particular emphasis on property settlement negotiations and dispute resolution, utilising mediation and arbitration to achieve outcomes that best serve her clients’ interests. Her expertise covers a broad range of matters, from straightforward asset divisions including the family home and superannuation to more complex cases involving business interests and corporate structures such as trusts. With a strong background in family court litigation, Tegan is also prepared to advocate vigorously for her clients when negotiations or alternative dispute resolution methods are not sufficient, ensuring their positions are effectively represented in court if needed. Beyond her professional commitments, Tegan values time with her family, including her young son Lucas and their family dog Ruby. She also enjoys property renovation and design, often seeking inspiration from various online platforms to envision new projects. Tegan holds a Bachelor of Laws and Justice and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology. She is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
