About Mark
Mark Ferraretto combines a diverse background in technology, law, and aviation. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences with a major in Computer Science at the University of Adelaide in 1989, Mark spent 25 years working as an IT professional and consultant. His extensive experience spans industries such as education, banking and finance, and aviation, both within Australia and internationally in Hong Kong. Driven by a desire for a new challenge, Mark pursued legal studies and graduated from Adelaide University Law School in 2016. In 2019, he joined Flinders University as a Lecturer in Law, where he developed and taught the university’s legal technology curriculum. His teaching included coding skills and the development of legal software applications, reflecting his unique blend of expertise in law and technology. After briefly returning to private practice in 2021, Mark resumed his academic role at Flinders University in 2023 as a Senior Lecturer in Law, while continuing to maintain an active private practice. Outside of his legal and academic career, Mark is passionate about aviation. He has held a Private Pilot’s licence since 1990 and a Recreational Pilot’s Certificate since 2022. Mark owns an Aeropup Light Sport Aircraft and has been involved with various general aviation aircraft. His commitment to the aviation community is demonstrated through roles such as Director of Recreational Australia Limited from 2022 to 2024 and current participation as a Committee member of the Adelaide Soaring Club Inc, as well as membership in the South Australian Aviation Museum. This multifaceted experience informs his professional approach, combining technical insight with legal expertise.
