Sanj Kumar

Sanj Kumar is an Associate at Maeve O’Brien and Associates, where she contributes her expertise in family law to support clients through challenging parenting and property matters. She is committed to helping clients understand their legal rights and focuses on delivering practical, cost-effective advice with an emphasis on achieving realistic outcomes. Her approach centres on clear communication and pragmatic resolution strategies. Since her admission to practice, Sanj has worked exclusively in family law at several boutique firms in Melbourne's CBD. This experience has equipped her with a thorough understanding of the complexities involved in family law matters. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she gained valuable legal knowledge working as a paralegal and legal assistant in both private and public sectors. Sanj is dedicated to community service and volunteers as a family lawyer at Fitzroy Legal Services, providing legal assistance to individuals who might otherwise face barriers to accessing justice. Her experience encompasses a broad range of family law issues, including family violence intervention orders, divorce applications, property disputes, parenting arrangements, parental orders, and Binding Financial Agreements. Sanj holds a Bachelor of Business (Law) and a Juris Doctor from Monash University, and completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law. Outside her legal career, Sanj is active in fostering community connections and is a Melbourne Committee Member of Brown Boss Babes, a not-for-profit organisation supporting women of colour through networking and community events. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, often over home-cooked meals, and exploring Melbourne’s diverse dining scene.
