Tom Pils is a Senior Associate with over a decade of experience in commercial law and dispute resolution. He provides comprehensive legal guidance throughout the business life cycle, assisting clients from incorporation and drafting shareholders’ agreements, through contract preparation and review, to business restructuring, intellectual property protection, debt recovery, and the purchase and sale of businesses. Tom has represented clients in a wide range of commercial disputes, appearing in mediation and litigation across the Local, District, Supreme, and Federal Courts in both New South Wales and Queensland. Holding a double degree in Commerce-Accounting and Laws from Macquarie University, Tom brings a strong understanding of the financial and strategic factors that drive business success. In addition to his commercial law practice, Tom has developed significant expertise in drone law. He has advised drone pilots, manufacturers, software providers, and other stakeholders on regulatory compliance, complex operational issues, liability concerns, and Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) investigations. His involvement extends to participating in government drone-related working groups led by CASA and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications. Tom is also an accomplished author and educator in this specialised area. He has contributed articles to Thomson Reuters and LexisNexis, and authored Australia’s first commercially focused guide for drone operators, The Drone Pilot’s Legal Handbook. He frequently shares his knowledge through conferences, podcasts, and professional development seminars for legal and other industry professionals. Qualifications and Professional Admissions Tom holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Macquarie University, along with a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law NSW. He is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and authorised to practise law in the High Court of Australia.
