About Sam
Sam Macedone is the principal of Macedone Legal, bringing 50 years of experience across criminal advocacy and commercial litigation. He has represented clients in a range of high-profile cases, including the euthanasia trial of Caren Jenning, the acquittal of a US sailor on a rape charge, and the cold case murder of Rita Caleo. Sam has appeared before all levels of court in New South Wales, including the High Court of Australia. Known for his fierce defence of individual rights, he is committed to preventing wrongful convictions and combating corruption. He is also recognised for his pro bono work with disadvantaged communities, having been nominated three times for the Law and Justice Foundation’s Pro Bono Partnership Award. Sam holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and has been active in the profession since 1970. He has held leadership roles including president and life member of the St George Sutherland Regional Law Society, and chairman of Austlaw Pty Ltd, a network of independent law firms. In 2013, he received the NSW Law Society Presidents Medal for his significant contributions to law and justice. Outside of law, Sam enjoys playing golf, balancing his demanding career with personal interests.
