Mr George Sit joined Ma & Company Solicitors as Head of Litigation in May 2024. With three decades of experience, George brings an extensive background in handling a wide array of commercial and civil litigation matters. George holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney. He was admitted as a solicitor in Australia in 1993, and subsequently in England and Wales, and Hong Kong in 1994. He is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, enabling effective communication with a diverse client base. Beginning his career in the tax department of a leading accounting firm, George transitioned into legal practice, focusing on civil and commercial litigation. He has practised in both Australia and Hong Kong within well-established local and international firms. This breadth of experience has equipped him with the ability to provide nuanced legal advice and to represent clients effectively at various levels of court. George’s litigation experience encompasses a broad spectrum of areas including complex commercial disputes, shareholder conflicts, and related proceedings such as applications for Mareva injunctions and Anton Piller orders. He advises and represents clients in contested winding up petitions, matrimonial proceedings, and ancillary recovery matters. Additionally, George acts for medical practitioners on medicolegal issues and defends hospitals and medical professionals in negligence claims, often on behalf of indemnity insurers. His expertise also extends to personal injury claims from both claimant and respondent perspectives, representation of financial institutions, brokerage houses, and individuals in disputes involving financial instruments, as well as appearances before Civil and Administrative Tribunals. George is also skilled in guiding clients through settlement negotiations and mediation processes.
