Sara Rayment is a highly accomplished lawyer with over 16 years of experience in complex international disputes. Her expertise extends to family and business disputes, where she combines practical legal knowledge with a compassionate approach. Sara is known for her ability to simplify complex legal issues and apply innovative technology to achieve effective results for her clients. Throughout her career, Sara has demonstrated a profound understanding of the unique challenges faced by separating couples, including financial and transitional matters. She is dedicated to guiding clients through these difficult situations with clear, supportive advice to help them make informed decisions. Sara's experience includes landmark cases such as Australia’s first Hague Convention application by a same-sex parent for the return of a child abducted internationally, as well as advising in sensitive international surrogacy matters involving Australian children with disabilities. Her work often intersects with business law, where she has provided counsel to major companies including HSBC, Airbnb, Glencore, and L’Oreal. Sara’s professional appointments include serving as a United Nations delegate to UNCITRAL in 2016-2017 and again in 2025. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle and a guest lecturer at Stanford University. She also serves as an ICC Delegate on the Commission on Artificial Intelligence in Law from 2024 to 2027. Further, she is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Her academic qualifications comprise a Master of Laws from Queen Mary College, University of London, and dual Bachelor degrees in Laws and Business from the University of Newcastle.
