About Mary
Mary Korkidas is a partner with over 25 years’ experience in the legal profession, holding a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology, Sydney, a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney, and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the University of Technology. In addition to her comprehensive legal education, Mary has completed specialised training in Collaborative Practice and is a Certified Collaborative Professional, bringing strong negotiation skills to her work. Mary’s career began while she was completing her law degree, during which she worked in the mortgage department of ANZ Bank. After graduation, she gained valuable experience at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office, a legal mortgage practice, and a general legal practice. She later established her own firm, which has successfully operated for over two decades. Mary’s practice has covered a range of areas including traditional family law, property law, commercial law, wills and probate. Her broad expertise allows her to approach family law matters with a thorough understanding of the various legal elements that often intersect during family separations. Mary appreciates the complexity of family law, recognising that issues related to family businesses, trusts, real estate, company shares, powers of attorney, wills, inheritances, and contracts can all influence family law property settlements. This comprehensive perspective enables her to offer well-rounded advice, helping clients navigate challenges that extend beyond typical family law issues. Over the years, Mary has observed the significant emotional, psychological, and financial difficulties families face during separation. This insight motivated her to embrace Collaborative Family Law, a process that aligns with her values by supporting families to resolve disputes cooperatively, without resorting to litigation. Mary believes that through this approach, families can maintain important relationships in a new form and move forward with renewed hope and clarity. Mary is admitted to practice before the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales. She is a member of the Law Society of NSW, the Australian Association of Collaborative Professionals, and Collaborative Professionals (NSW) Inc. Her commitment to ongoing professional development and collaborative methods underscores her dedication to providing empathetic and effective legal support to her clients.
