About Richard
Richard Kouchoo is a seasoned legal practitioner admitted in 2006, with extensive experience across a broad spectrum of legal matters. He has managed and supervised litigation at various court and tribunal levels, including appearances before the High Court of Australia. His commercial litigation experience encompasses building and construction disputes, corporate matters, equity issues and related areas. Richard’s expertise also extends to administrative, environmental, employment, criminal, defamation and family law. During his tenure at the Bar, Richard was a committed pro bono advocate, regularly contributing to the NSW Bar Association’s Pro Bono Scheme. Early in his legal career, he served as a headnote reporter for the Australian Corporations & Securities Reports and has contributed to and edited various legal publications. Beyond his legal work, Richard has held significant roles such as treasurer of the Thomas More Society for seven years and president of the Liberal Party’s Marsfield branch. He has also taught taxation law at the undergraduate level and began his professional journey as a software developer. Known for his pragmatic and commercially minded approach, Richard strives to deliver cost-effective legal solutions tailored to his clients’ needs. His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of International Law. Richard has represented major multinational clients listed on the NYSE, including Detroit Diesel (Daimler), Chevron, the Mercedes-Benz Group, Fiserv and KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts), handling large-scale projects within power supply, technology and related sectors.
