Emily Purcell serves as a partner at KPA Lawyers, where she leads the firm's Property Law division. With dual degrees in Law and Psychological Science from La Trobe University, Emily enriches her legal practice with a keen understanding of the multifaceted personal and socio-economic factors influencing her clients’ interactions with the legal system. Since joining KPA Lawyers in 2013, Emily has concentrated her practice on property and family law, developing substantial expertise in each area. In the realm of Property Law, Emily displays an enthusiastic dedication to her work. Her extensive experience encompasses a broad spectrum of property-related issues. She expertly navigates the sale and purchase of residential and commercial properties and handles both small and large-scale subdivisions. Her counsel extends to landlords and tenants on matters concerning the leasing of retail, commercial, and industrial properties. Emily adeptly prepares leases, mortgages, and loan agreements, and is well-versed in building contracts, owners corporation issues, and Retirement Village Agreements. Before taking on her current leadership role in the Property Law division, Emily also practised in family law, where she gained valuable experience in tackling a wide array of family law challenges. Her proficiency includes managing parenting and financial matters, preparing and advising on Financial and Child Support Agreements, as well as handling intervention orders and divorce applications. Today, Emily continues to engage with family law clients, particularly in complex property matters. She assists individuals in the division of property following relationship breakdowns, seamlessly integrating her knowledge of property and family law to deliver comprehensive and empathetic legal services.
