About Amy
Amy Fels is a Director at Kerr Fels and holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia. She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. Amy is recognised as an Accredited Family Law Specialist and has been identified by Doyle's Guide as one of Western Australia’s leading family lawyers in matters concerning parenting, custody, and children. Amy approaches family law with a focus on resolving disputes through strategic planning, negotiation, and mediation, aiming to avoid the stress and expense of trial whenever possible. She often conducts interim hearings herself, using these opportunities to develop and implement a case strategy that enhances the prospects of settlement early in proceedings. This approach reflects her commitment to achieving effective outcomes for her clients. Before establishing Kerr Fels alongside fellow Director Denby Kerr, Amy gained valuable experience as a solicitor at one of Perth’s largest family law firms. She appears regularly in the Family Court of Western Australia, as well as the Court of Appeal and Magistrates Court. Beyond her practice, Amy has contributed to the legal community as a long-standing Councillor of the Family Law Practitioners’ Association of Western Australia, where she has led the Wellness Committee and Law Reform Committee. She is also an active member of the Law Society of Western Australia and supports the Piddington Society. Committed to giving back, Amy has volunteered at the Women’s Legal Service evening clinics, providing advice on family law property matters to disadvantaged women. Outside of her legal career, she enjoys renovating her home, visiting the dog beach, and spending quality time with family and friends.
