Denise Wightman

Denise Wightman is a partner with over 20 years of experience practising commercial law. She leads the cross-disciplinary property finance team at KKI, bringing extensive expertise in corporate and commercial matters across a broad range of industries, particularly within the property and property finance sectors. Denise advises on a variety of complex corporate arrangements including joint venture and shareholder agreements, business sale agreements, and corporate restructures. She has a strong focus on property financing and investment, adept at structuring both debt and equity transactions to meet client goals. Her client base includes Australian and international corporations, high net worth individuals, property developers, and non-bank lenders. Her approach combines technical precision with commercial insight, enabling clients to establish, grow, protect and sell their businesses effectively. Denise’s experience includes preparing and reviewing loan and security documentation for a variety of finance structures such as construction loans and mezzanine finance. She is well-versed in due diligence processes, tripartite agreements, preferred equity funding, intercreditor and subordination agreements, as well as the registration and discharge of securities under the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth). Additionally, she provides guidance on the sale of distressed assets. In the commercial law sphere, Denise handles unitholder and shareholder agreements, joint ventures, business acquisitions and sales, corporate governance, consumer contracts, and corporate restructures.
