His work has spanned various industries, including oil and gas, mining and resources, renewable energy, technology, and infrastructure. Simon is regularly involved in joint ventures and equity capital markets transactions and has provided counsel on significant development projects. He is adept at drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including operating, sales and marketing, and royalty agreements. Before joining Jones Day in 2023, Simon held a senior partner role at a prestigious international law firm. His notable contributions include advising on the multibillion-dollar acquisition of a majority stake in a gold and copper mine from a global resources entity and establishing a renewable energy development platform in Southeast Asia, among other major transactions. He played a crucial role in the reorganisation of Australian-based solar farm projects as part of a client's global strategy and facilitated the divestment of oil and gas interests in Indonesia. Simon also advised on the proposed spin-off and IPO of a mineral business in Papua New Guinea and a joint venture for carbon offset projects.
