About Bevan
Bevan Mailman is the Managing Principal and Director of Jaramer Legal, bringing extensive experience as a corporate lawyer dedicated to advancing First Nations remote economies through a deep understanding of ancient cultures and traditions. He possesses a strong background in commercial transactions, corporate advisory, corporate structuring, and strategic development, particularly within the energy and agriculture sectors. Bevan’s work focuses on collaborating with remote and regional Indigenous communities across Australia and internationally. He assists these communities by evaluating their unique challenges and designing frameworks focused on enhanced governance, independence, and sustainable economic growth. His approach combines practical legal knowledge with culturally informed strategies to support community-led development. Beyond his role at Jaramer Legal, Bevan serves as Co-Chairman of Desert Springs Octopus, partnering with a global leader in drip irrigation technology to drive new enterprise, infrastructure, and community initiatives among remote Indigenous populations. He is also a board member of Aboriginal Housing Victoria, overseeing substantial social housing assets, contributes to RMIT’s College of Business and Law Industry Advisory Board, and directs Agency Projects, which promotes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and culture on multiple levels. Bevan’s academic credentials include studies at the University of Melbourne Business School (MBA), Kellogg School of Management in the United States, and Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany. He has lectured at university level in Public Policy and Law and has professional experience from notable firms and institutions, including Norton Rose Fulbright, National Australia Bank’s Corporate and Finance team, and the Mergers and Acquisitions team at Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens Linklaters). In recognition of his contributions, Bevan was honoured as the 2021 Indigenous Leader of the Year at the Australian Law Awards.
