Talaishia Collis

Talaishia Collis is the Principal Solicitor and a Public Notary with a remarkable trajectory in the legal landscape, reflecting both depth and dedication. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wollongong in 2006 and was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2007. Talaishia's legal journey began with roles as an Associate at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and as a Legal Officer at the Migration and Refugee Review Tribunal. Her return to the Illawarra in 2008 marked the start of her private practice endeavours, where she has diligently worked across all facets of Family Law. Her distinguished training has led to her inclusion on Legal Aid NSW’s panel as an Independent Children’s Lawyer, as well as being a part of their Family Law panel, underscoring her commitment to supporting families and children. Her approach is client-focused, ensuring individuals understand their rights and obligations while handling legal processes in a straightforward manner for swift and effective resolution. Talaishia is well-versed in appearing before the Local and District Courts of NSW and primarily acts in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, showcasing her advocacy skills. Further enhancing her qualifications, Talaishia completed additional training at the College of Law, which culminated in her appointment as a Public Notary by the Supreme Court of NSW. Elected to the Board of the Women Illawarra in 2012, she served as its Chairperson from 2013 to 2020.
