Claire Carton

Claire Carton is a founding partner and Executive Director at Griffin Legal, where she also leads the Not-for-Profit team. With nearly thirty years of experience in legal practice, Claire is recognised for her strategic and client-focused approach to achieving outcomes. Claire began her career in banking and finance law, and has since developed a broad practice in corporate and commercial law. Her current work primarily involves advising not-for-profits, charities, and government bodies on governance, personnel, and risk management issues. She has played a key role in developing codes of conduct and complaint handling systems, and has acted as an investigator in complex employee conduct matters for government clients. Claire’s experience extends to sports law, having advised several national Australian sporting organisations on a range of issues including media agreements, sponsorship arrangements, and child and member protection matters. In her role as Executive Director, Claire collaborates with Griffin Legal’s leadership and stakeholders to drive the firm’s strategic objectives and innovative initiatives.
