About Emily
Emily Ostler is a dedicated family law solicitor with considerable experience in matters relating to family law, domestic violence, and care and protection. Since her admission to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2014 and the High Court of Australia in 2015, Emily has built a strong practice handling parenting and property disputes, including cases involving relocation, risk of harm to children, spousal maintenance, and child support. She has significant experience representing clients in the Children’s Court, Federal Circuit and Family Court, and the Local Court. In 2022, Emily established her own practice to provide client-focused family law services, prioritising fair and just outcomes that serve the best interests of the children involved. She is a highly effective court advocate and is well-regarded for her skills in mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes. Emily has been appointed to various solicitor panels by Legal Aid, including those dedicated to family law, care and protection, and domestic violence. Additionally, she represents the Department of Communities and Justice in Children’s Court proceedings and acts on behalf of children in family law and care matters. Committed to professional development and community engagement, Emily serves on the committee of the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners Association and is a member of the Newcastle Law Society, NSW Law Society, Care and Protection Association, and Women’s Lawyers Association. Outside of her legal work, Emily enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching television series, savouring good coffee, and embraces her love for Harry Potter.
