John Hopes

John Hopes was admitted as a solicitor in 1988 and is a partner at Giudes & Elliott. He brings extensive experience in family law, including matters related to de facto separations, as well as criminal law. John's comprehensive understanding of these areas enables him to provide clear and effective guidance tailored to the needs of his clients. In addition to his civilian legal practice, John serves as a reserve Legal Officer with the Australian Army Legal Corps, holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and based in Townsville. This role underlines his commitment to legal service and adds a unique dimension to his professional expertise. John is actively involved with the Townsville Legacy service, where he contributes as an honorary solicitor, demonstrating his dedication to supporting veterans and their families. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Queensland Institute of Technology and is admitted as a solicitor of both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
