Paul Gibney

Paul Gibney is a partner with extensive experience in property and business law, providing practical and informed advice to private clients, developers, and businesses. His expertise covers a broad range of property transactions including residential and commercial dealings, rural conveyancing, as well as the sale and purchase of hotels. Paul also advises on leases encompassing commercial, farming, and hotel properties. In addition to property law, Paul assists clients with the sale and purchase of businesses and has experience in liquor licensing matters. He provides guidance on powers of attorney, enduring guardianships, and medical guardianships, ensuring clients’ affairs are managed according to their wishes. Paul's work also involves preparing wills and administering deceased estates, including handling applications for grants of probate. He is knowledgeable in dealing with court claims related to estates, such as family provision claims. Paul's commitment to his field is demonstrated by his involvement with professional bodies, including previous membership of the Property Law Committee of the Law Society of New South Wales and ongoing participation in the NSW Property Law Specialist Accreditation Advisory Committee and the College of Law Business Law Advisory Committee. He is a co-author of the first New South Wales edition of 1001 Conveyancing Answers, a key resource for solicitors working in property law, and regularly contributes articles and presentations on relevant legal topics. Educated at Monash University, Paul holds a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws, and has practised law since 1985. He further advanced his expertise by completing a Master of Laws at The New South Wales College of Law, focusing on wills and estates, with an emphasis on estate planning and litigation, as well as commercial leasing. Paul is distinguished by his accreditation from the Law Society of New South Wales in both business law and property law, and is the sole accredited property law practitioner in the Albury/Wodonga region.
