Arabella Munro

Arabella Munro is a Senior Associate with extensive experience across criminal, civil and family law. She has practiced as a solicitor in a range of private firms in both Sydney and regional New South Wales, appearing in the Local and District Courts of NSW, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT). During her time as a criminal solicitor at Legal Aid NSW, Arabella provided legal services in the Tamworth, Gunnedah and Quirindi Local and Children’s Courts. Her responsibilities included handling bail applications, Section 14 Mental Health Diversion applications, and defended hearings. Many of these cases involved complex legal arguments such as seeking the exclusion of evidence, including CCTV footage, and conducting cross-examinations of prosecution witnesses spanning police officers and civilians. Arabella also served as a criminal lawyer with the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) in Alice Springs, where she gained daily courtroom experience in a jurisdiction known for stringent criminal laws. Her role involved managing defended hearings, bail applications and sentencing matters in the Local Court. She has confronted complex issues including opposing tendency evidence applications, attempting exclusion of evidence, and cross-examining police, civilian and expert medical witnesses. Her court experience extends to appearances in the Supreme Court for sentencing and breach matters. Arabella has a particular interest in making ‘No case to answer’ submissions and in the legal principles surrounding the exclusion of evidence. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2019 and holds a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Relations. Arabella is a member of the Northern Territory Law Society and is accredited on the Legal Aid Summary Crime and BUDS Panels.
