About Sam
Sam Hemachandra is the Legal Practice Director at FourLion Legal, bringing a commitment to justice and excellence to her legal practice. She founded FourLion Legal in 2013 and has since cultivated a thriving practice that serves a broad range of clients, including major financial institutions, government bodies, corporations, partnerships, small businesses, and individuals. Sam holds a Bachelor of Legal Studies (1998) and Bachelor of Laws (2003) from Murdoch University, completed the Practical Legal Course at the NSW College of Law in 2003, and earned a Master of Law from the University of NSW in 2005. She was admitted to practice in New South Wales in 2004 and later returned to Perth in 2011 to continue her legal career. With experience across multiple jurisdictions, Sam has handled matters in the local, district, and supreme courts, as well as federal courts and tribunals. Her matters have involved the Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal, State Administrative Tribunal, Administrative Appeals Tribunal, and courts including the Court of Appeal. This diverse exposure has equipped her to provide commercially astute and innovative legal advice tailored to the specific circumstances of each client, always upholding the highest ethical standards. Sam's practice areas encompass family law—covering divorce, property settlement, parenting arrangements and child support—in addition to inheritance disputes including family provision claims, criminal law, probate and letters of administration, wills and estates, banking and finance, dispute resolution, litigation, traffic law, bankruptcy and insolvency, administrative law and judicial review, migration law, and property law including conveyancing. Throughout her career, Sam has acted as both counsel and instructing solicitor in numerous successful cases, including significant decisions for major banks such as NAB, Westpac, ANZ, and Commonwealth Bank. She has also contributed to the community through involvement in the Law Society’s Access to Law program, serving as a mock trial judge, participation in the Francis Burt Law Education Programme, and mentoring junior practitioners via the Law Society. Sam is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Law Society of WA, Criminal Lawyers Association, Family Lawyers Association, Women Lawyers of WA, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, and the Migration Institute of Australia. Her broad legal expertise, combined with her dedication to ethical practice and client service, positions her as a trusted legal advisor in Perth and Fremantle.
