About Richard
Richard Mackenzie has been practising law since 1968, bringing extensive experience in commercial law, property transactions, leases, strategic planning, wills, estates, estate disputes, and both business and personal succession planning. He works closely with select clients involved in ventures both within Australia and internationally, with his practice primarily focused on project-based matters. In recent years, Richard has concentrated particularly on business succession planning and property development. Richard’s professional experience spans multiple jurisdictions, having worked extensively across Australia, Asia and the Pacific, New Zealand, Europe, the UK, Canada, and the United States. His international exposure includes advising local, national, and multinational corporations and participating in a variety of merger and acquisition transactions ranging from small to large scale. In addition to his legal practice, Richard holds external board roles and is actively involved in family companies engaged in agriculture, horticulture, energy investment, and financial services. Outside of his legal career, Richard enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife, four children, and seven grandchildren. He also manages family cattle properties in South Gippsland, raising Hereford and Black Baldy cattle. In his leisure time, he appreciates fishing and following the Geelong Football Club. Richard is also a member of the Athenaeum Club and the Melbourne Cricket Club.
