Rohan Foon

Rohan Foon is a Director at Douglas & Collins, bringing a depth of experience in litigation and a broad advisory practice encompassing general commercial disputes and estate litigation. He graduated with First Class Honours in Law alongside a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tasmania in 2004. After completing his Graduate Certificate of Legal Practice in 2005, Rohan was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Tasmania. He began his legal career as an Associate to the Honourable Justice Crawford of the Supreme Court of Tasmania before joining Douglas & Collins in 2006, where he was appointed Director in 2013. Rohan has played a significant role in the Tasmanian legal community through his long-standing involvement with the Law Society of Tasmania. Since 2010, he has served on its Council and held leadership positions including President, Vice President, and Treasurer. He was also a member of the Law Society’s Executive from 2013 to 2019. His commitment to broader legal governance is reflected in his current roles as a Director of the Law Council of Australia, a member of the Tasmanian Legal Profession Disciplinary Tribunal, and a Criminal Injuries Compensation Commissioner. Rohan contributes to legal reform as a member of the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute and participates in financial oversight as part of the Law Council’s Finance and Risk Committee. In addition to his legal and governance duties, Rohan is engaged in community activities, including membership on the board of the Encore Theatre Company. His varied involvement also extends to previous leadership and tribunal roles within sports organisations and the Law Foundation, highlighting his commitment to both the legal profession and community service.
