About Robert
Robert Hegarty is a director at Douglas & Collins, bringing a breadth of experience in property, commercial, and estates law. He graduated from the University of Tasmania in December 2007 with a combined Commerce and Law degree, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the same university in 2008. After his admission as a Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in August 2008, Robert joined Douglas & Collins as a graduate in February 2009 and progressed to director in July 2017. Robert’s practice focuses on various aspects of property and commercial law, including the sales and purchases of residential, commercial, and agricultural real estate, subdivisions and land title matters, as well as the sale and acquisition of businesses. He also advises on leasing arrangements, trusts, business structuring, wills and estate planning, and the preparation of powers of attorney and enduring guardianship documents. Alongside his legal practice, Robert has actively contributed to the profession through service on the Northern Young Lawyers Committee, where he held the role of Treasurer between 2011 and 2012. He is a current member of the Law Society of Tasmania’s Council, and has previously served on its Executive and the Property and Commercial Law Committee.
