Bec began her legal journey at the prestigious Herbert Smith Freehills, dedicating nearly a decade to the employment law team, where she advanced to the role of Senior Associate. During her tenure in private practice, she undertook numerous secondments across a diverse array of industries, including finance, automotive, and retail. These experiences afforded her a profound understanding of the intersection between business operations and the delivery of practical legal solutions. In 2017, Bec transitioned to a pivotal role at Coles Group. Over more than five years, she led a sizeable team of workplace relations experts, tackling intricate employment law issues such as workplace investigations and people litigation. Her work involved the synthesis of complex legal advice for various organisational stakeholders, establishing her as a crucial advisor in employment matters. Before co-founding Decipher Workplace Law, Bec further honed her expertise during a secondment at the Australian Human Rights Commission.
