Margie O'Neill

Margie O’Neill brings extensive experience across all facets of Family Law, including parenting arrangements, property settlements, Hague Convention cases, and matters involving same-sex relationships. Recognised over several years by Doyle’s Guide as a leading Parenting Family Lawyer in Sydney, Margie is known for her empathetic yet practical approach to resolving family disputes. Clients appreciate her sensitivity to the emotional difficulties that arise during separation and divorce, alongside her commitment to minimising the impact of conflict on both parents and children. Drawing on her background as a social worker, Margie combines her legal expertise with a unique understanding of family dynamics to support clients through challenging circumstances. As a mother of three, she emphasises the importance of parents working collaboratively for the well-being of their children and maintaining respectful communication, even in difficult situations. Margie holds a Master of Laws in dispute resolution and is trained in both Collaborative Law and Mediation. While she prioritises resolving matters outside of court, she is equally adept at representing clients in litigation when required. Beyond her practice, Margie contributes actively to her community. She serves as a board member of the Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter and as co-Vice President of the Board of NSW Collaborative Professionals. Margie volunteers at Manly Community Legal Centre and is a member of the Northern Beaches and Suburbs Collaborative Practice Group as well as the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. When not practising law, Margie enjoys an active lifestyle with her family and two dogs. A lifelong resident of Manly, she has a passion for skiing and scuba diving and remains rooted in the local community.
