About Julie
Julie Dobinson is the Managing Partner of the firm, bringing over 20 years of experience in family law and mediation to her leadership role. Known for her approachable and client-focused manner, Julie prioritises understanding each client’s individual goals and works collaboratively to achieve effective and accessible legal solutions. Her strategic and holistic approach not only guides her work with clients but also influences her management of the firm and mentorship of staff. Julie has a comprehensive background in family law disputes, with a particular aptitude for dispute resolution. In 2005, she played a pivotal role in introducing Collaborative Law to Australia and contributed to the Family Law Council Report to the Attorney-General on Collaborative Practice. She continues to be actively involved in Collaborative Divorce and is frequently called upon to mediate in family law matters, assisting both fellow practitioners and self-represented parties. A well-respected figure within the Canberra legal and business communities, Julie has contributed significantly through her involvement with various boards and committees. She founded the Canberra Region Family Law Professionals Association and was its inaugural President. Throughout her career, Julie has participated in multiple Law Society Committees and served as Chair of Law Australasia, a national network of independent law firms focused on best practice management and client service. Currently, she chairs the Board of the Women’s Legal Centre (ACT) and is a member of the Complaints Committee of the ACT Law Society.
