David Gibbs

David Gibbs is the founding principal of David Gibbs & Associates, having established the firm at the age of 26 after completing his Bachelor of Jurisprudence and Bachelor of Laws at Monash University. Over the years, David has developed his practice by attracting experienced legal professionals and mentoring emerging talent, offering many their first opportunity to hone their skills within his firm. David’s legal expertise spans a broad range of areas including administrative law, child protection and children’s law, civil litigation, commercial law, conveyancing and real property, criminal law, debts and insolvency, family law, family violence and statutory offences, general litigation, as well as wills and estates. This diverse experience enables him to provide well-rounded advice tailored to the needs of his clients. Outside the legal profession, David is deeply committed to community service. He has volunteered with the Country Fire Authority (CFA) for more than 40 years, including over 20 years as the Westernport Group Officer. His qualifications include Level 3 Incident Controller, and he contributed to the organisation’s governance by serving on the CFA Board from 2006 to 2011, representing volunteer interests. Known for his relaxed and approachable manner, David is rarely seen in formal attire, favouring a style that puts clients at ease. Originally from Bendigo and Essendon, he has lived on the Mornington Peninsula since the 1970s. Together with his wife, David has long-standing ties to the area, having spent family holidays on the beaches of Somers before making it their home.
