About George
George Betts is a partner and senior solicitor at the firm, bringing extensive experience since his admission to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2006. He joined the firm in 2007 alongside Stephen Curtis and Michael Gant and was appointed partner in 2009. George holds an Honours degree in Natural Resources Science and Law from the University of New England, completed between 2000 and 2005. Before joining the firm in Muswellbrook, he practised in the Southern Tablelands towns of Goulburn and Crookwell, where he developed a broad legal portfolio. His experience includes property law, water law, conveyancing, subdivisions, wills and estates, commercial and business law, civil litigation including personal injury compensation, and criminal law. Committed to supporting local trade and commerce, George is actively involved in the community. He has interests in farming and is a member of the Local Land Services organisation. Previously, he was a senior member of the Upper Hunter Catchment Management Authority Community Reference Group and continues to serve on the New South Wales Legal Aid Commission – Criminal Law Panel. George is married to Patricia Betts, a school teacher at Scone Grammar School. Outside of his professional work, he advocates for social justice and education, and enjoys supporting local Upper Hunter businesses and a variety of sports including cricket, golf, tennis, netball, rugby league, rugby union, women’s league tag, and touch football.
