David Fleming

David is a partner at Cunningham Adam and leads the firm’s Family Law Department. Since joining the firm in 1994, shortly after his admission as a solicitor, he has developed extensive experience across multiple courts, including the Local, District, Supreme Courts, and the High Court of Australia. With over 27 years at Cunningham Adam, David’s primary focus is family law, where he is well-versed in handling matters within the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia. His work includes divorce proceedings, property settlements, and children’s issues. Additionally, David has practical experience in the Local Court, particularly in traffic offences and other criminal matters. David also provides legal services in wills and estate planning, property law, criminal law, and deceased estates. His approach is client-centred, emphasising clear, practical advice to support clients through what can be challenging and emotionally complex situations, aiming to secure the best possible outcomes. Before embarking on his legal career, David spent a decade as a high school teacher in the Newcastle and Lower Hunter regions, working in both public and private schools. He also taught at TAFE colleges and the Hunter College of Advanced Education. Outside of his professional commitments, David enjoys spending quality time with his wife and family. He has been an enthusiastic basketball player for over 50 years, is passionate about international travel, and is an avid skier.
