Alice Chen

Alice Chen is a senior legal practitioner with over 20 years of experience providing comprehensive legal advice to clients in diverse areas, with a strong emphasis on wills, estates, and succession law. Since joining CS Lawyers as Special Counsel in April 2025, Alice has drawn upon her extensive background in both private practice and senior executive roles to deliver practical and strategic legal solutions. Alice commenced her career at TK Legal in Sydney’s Haymarket, where she quickly advanced to the role of Associate in 2004. During this time, she developed expertise in commercial leasing, business sales and acquisitions, property transactions, wills and estate planning, and litigation. Her dispute resolution work has spanned tribunals and courts at all levels, including NCAT and the High Court, covering matters such as lease disputes, debt recovery, contracts, construction, defamation, taxation, and professional negligence. This wide-ranging experience established her reputation as a trusted advisor, valued for her strategic insight and pragmatic approach to both transactional and contentious matters. In 2014, Alice expanded her career into a senior executive role in the automotive glass industry, serving as Chief Operating Officer for Australia and New Zealand’s largest B2B distributor. In this capacity, she combined operational leadership with oversight of the company’s legal function, managing legal and regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, employment issues, workplace health and safety, governance, and asset management. She led several corporate restructures and major mergers and acquisitions in New Zealand, contributing significantly to the group’s market leadership. Alice also provided expert guidance on complex business succession planning, working collaboratively with external tax and legal professionals on high-value projects. Alice is recognised for her commercial acumen, meticulous attention to detail, and clear, confident communication style. Her ability to engage persuasively with clients and colleagues alike has earned her a reputation as a reliable and approachable adviser. Her practical, solution-oriented mindset and extensive leadership experience enable her to offer legal advice that is both commercially focused and realistically implementable. She holds a Master of Laws specialising in Corporate, Commercial and Taxation Law from UNSW, along with combined undergraduate degrees in Law and Commerce. Alice is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
