About David
David Alderman is Special Counsel at Cozens Johansen Lawyers, bringing extensive experience in commercial and civil litigation, construction law, debt recovery, and workers compensation. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Adelaide University in 1977 and was admitted to practice in South Australia in 1979. David relocated to the Northern Territory in 1980 to join Ward Keller in Darwin, becoming a partner in 1986. In 1995, he transitioned to the Independent Bar and practised as a barrister from William Forster Chambers until 2023, when he joined Cozens Johansen Lawyers. David has also been active in alternative dispute resolution since 2003, serving as a mediator, and from 2009 has acted as an adjudicator for claims under the Construction Contracts (Security of Payments) Act (NT). His contributions include membership of the Mental Health Review Tribunal between 2017 and 2019, and he has been a sessional member of the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal since 2018. He also served on the Law Society Council from 2021 to 2023. David’s broad experience in courtroom advocacy, dispute resolution, and tribunal work makes him well placed to assist clients with complex legal matters in the Northern Territory.
