About Pravinita
Pravinita Singh-Pillay, Principal Lawyer at Cornerstone Law Offices, brings over two decades of legal experience encompassing a diverse range of practice areas including Family Law, Criminal Defence, Civil Litigation, Debt Recovery, Wills and Estates, Conveyancing, and Employment Law. Prav began her legal and commerce studies in Australia in 1992 and was admitted to practice in 1997. Her early career includes roles with the Director of Public Prosecutions in Brisbane, a general practice firm in regional Queensland, an Employment Law firm in California, and a boutique family law firm on the Gold Coast. In 2011, she attained accreditation as a mediator, and by 2014 she was qualified as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. That same year, she established Cornerstone Law Offices. Her family law practice covers all areas including property division, de facto and same-sex relationships, spousal maintenance, divorce, domestic violence matters, financial agreements both pre and post nuptial, as well as children’s issues such as relocation, recovery, paternity, and child support. Prav provides direct representation in Family Court and Federal Circuit Court matters, handling mentions, directions hearings, callovers, and straightforward interim applications, while instructing counsel for more complex hearings and trials. In addition to her litigation work, Prav offers mediation services and, as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, is authorised to issue section 60I Certificates when parenting matters cannot be resolved through mediation. Prav holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from Griffith University, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology, and is a nationally accredited mediator. She is also recognised as an Independent Children’s Lawyer under the relevant legislation. Active in the professional community, Prav is a member of the Queensland Law Society, the Family Law Practitioners Association, and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. She volunteers her expertise at Women’s Legal Services, Bayside Community Legal Centre and My Community Legal, where she also serves on the committee and as a mediator. Prav contributes to local business and community groups including the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce, Southside Chamber of Commerce, Networking Brisbane, Logan City Women in Business, and holds a leadership role as Chairperson of the Women’s Council for GOPIO Queensland Inc. She is also involved with Heartlink and the Rotary Club of Beenleigh.
