About Chris

Chris Barron is a Partner at Collas Moro Ross, leading a team focused primarily on Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution. With a commitment to providing no-nonsense, practical, and commercially sound legal advice, Chris assists clients in navigating complex disputes while minimising their exposure to legal risks. Drawing on his experience as a small business owner and an active member of his local community, Chris recognises that effective dispute resolution extends beyond legal arguments. He seeks pragmatic strategies that prioritise cost-effective and timely outcomes, aiming to preserve commercial or personal relationships wherever possible. This approach offers clients an alternative to protracted and costly litigation. Chris is the trusted adviser for a broad range of clients, including other lawyers, company directors, insolvency practitioners, accountants, finance professionals, auctioneers, property developers, business owners, and individuals from the wider community. His accessibility and readiness to act have established him as a reliable first point of contact for those facing legal challenges. He holds a Master of Laws (Applied Law) majoring in commercial litigation from the College of Law, as well as a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology. Chris is admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. Beyond his legal practice, Chris contributes significantly to community organisations. He serves as Vice President and Lifesaver at Mermaid Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, participates as a Management Committee Member and Volunteer Solicitor for My Community Legal, volunteers at Gold Coast Community Legal Centre, and has previously served on the Management Committee of HUB Community Projects. In his personal life, Chris competes in surfboat rowing and rugby union and remains deeply involved with the Mermaid Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. Chris and his team regularly represent clients in a broad spectrum of matters including business and contract disputes, partnership and corporations disagreements, insolvency matters, property and commercial lease conflicts, body corporate litigation, contested wills and estates, defamation cases, family law financial and property disputes, insurance and compensation claims, as well as elder law and guardianship issues.
