Karyn Anderson

Karyn Anderson is the managing partner and director at Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers, bringing over three decades of experience in immigration and refugee law. She graduated from the University of Melbourne with degrees in Arts and Law and earned a Master of Laws with honours in Public International Law from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands. Admitted to practice in 1993, Karyn has focused exclusively on immigration and refugee law since then, becoming a registered migration agent in 1996. In 2003, Karyn co-founded her own legal practice, leading the firm through significant growth and continuing at the helm following the retirement of her partner in 2019. Her extensive work spans the preparation of primary visa applications, complex submissions to the Department of Home Affairs, and representation of clients in merits review proceedings before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. She also appears in judicial review matters before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, and the High Court of Australia. Karyn has contributed substantially to the legal community, serving on the Law Institute of Victoria’s Immigration Law Advisory Committee, which oversees accreditation examinations for lawyers in immigration law. She regularly presents seminars for legal and migration professionals and has authored numerous articles providing insight into immigration and refugee law issues. Her legal opinions are frequently sought in related fields including family law and criminal law. Recognised by her peers for her expertise and professionalism, Karyn has been named among Australia’s Best Lawyers in Immigration Law annually since 2009 in the Australian Financial Review. More recently, she has been listed as a leading immigration lawyer by Doyles’ Guide, further reflecting her standing in the Australian legal community.
