Ellen Moore

Ellen Moore is a lawyer with extensive experience in immigration and administrative law. She graduated with First Class Honours in Law from the University of Sydney in 2017, ranking among the top five students in her cohort. Her honours thesis explored the complex intersections between criminal law and migration law, reflecting her early interest in issues affecting vulnerable populations. During her studies, Ellen volunteered with organisations supporting adults from refugee backgrounds and gained valuable research experience assisting esteemed academics in public international law, refugee law, terrorism, administrative law and human rights. She also completed internships at the Sydney Centre for International Law and worked as a Clerk and then Senior Paralegal at the commercial firm Allens, where she contributed to pro bono refugee-related cases. Following her graduation, Ellen completed her Practical Legal Training at the Refugee Advice and Casework Service and was admitted to practice in May 2019. She joined the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office, where she progressed from Graduate Solicitor to Senior Solicitor. Her rotations spanned Criminal Law, Child Protection, Constitutional and Administrative Law, as well as Employment Law and Industrial Relations. Ellen gained particular experience in administrative law and statutory interpretation during her time at the Crown. Since joining Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers in late 2021, Ellen has focused on complex immigration matters, including character issues, permanent visa cancellations and refugee and humanitarian cases. She manages judicial review proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court and Federal Court of Australia, alongside merits review cases before the Immigration Assessment Authority and Administrative Review Tribunal. In addition to her legal practice, Ellen has contributed scholarly work, co-authoring chapters for the Australian Yearbook of International Law and publishing her honours thesis on the sentencing of non-citizens in the UNSW Law Journal.
