Michael Clohesy

Michael graduated from the University of Melbourne Law School in 2005 and has developed extensive experience working exclusively in Wills and Estates law. Before establishing Clohesy Legal in 2013, he led the Wills and Estates team at Slater & Gordon, bringing strong leadership and in-depth knowledge to his practice. Michael currently shares his expertise as the Succession Law lecturer at Australian Catholic University and regularly delivers professional development sessions to fellow lawyers practising in this area. He believes a properly drafted Will not only ensures that your family is cared for but also helps to prevent future disputes. Michael describes preparing a Will as simply an act of good manners, reflecting thoughtfulness and responsibility. Michael and his team have successfully managed some of the largest and most complex Wills and Estate cases in Victoria. His experience includes probate and administration of deceased estates, complex wills involving testamentary trusts, powers of attorney, VCAT guardianship and administration disputes, as well as estate and executor litigation. He is also experienced in handling superannuation death benefit claims. Michael was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2007. His career has included positions at Pearce Webster Dugdales from 2006 to 2010, Slater & Gordon from 2010 to 2013, and since then, he has been principal at Clohesy Legal. He is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria. In addition to his legal practice, Michael engages with the legal community through education, with upcoming lectures such as Challenging Superannuation Death Benefits in November 2020.
