Melanie Claxton

Melanie Claxton brings over 20 years of experience in property and commercial law, with a practice that spans three states. Her career includes managing state offices for a leading mortgage processing firm and serving as principal of her own law practice in Western Australia. Upon returning to her native Tasmania, Melanie joined a prominent Hobart law firm where she led the property and commercial team. Her expertise covers a broad range of property law matters, including subdivisions, changes to title, and drafting easements and covenants. She has extensive experience working with all types of property titles, including ‘old system’ titles. Melanie also handles leases, business acquisitions and sales, as well as a variety of commercial agreements. With more than two decades in conveyancing, Melanie takes pride in guiding clients through their property transactions, whether they are first-time buyers or experienced investors. She has acted in mortgage transactions and mortgage default proceedings for some of Australia’s largest banks and international lenders. More recently, she has extended this expertise to assist smaller, first-time lenders and borrowers, including many within family lending arrangements. Melanie is recognised for her down-to-earth, pragmatic approach and is committed to providing clear and practical advice to clients on their property and commercial matters.
