With a heritage extending back to 1891, Clarke & Gee Lawyers has established itself as a longstanding legal presence in Launceston. Operating under its current name since 1932, the firm carries a distinctive identity recognised by its iconic ampersand logo. The firm's decision in 1950 to situate its practice opposite the Supreme Court on Cameron Street was initially met with scepticism, yet this move laid foundations for its enduring connection to the local legal community. Clarke & Gee's offices have evolved over time, marked notably by the 1962 relocation to 109 Cameron Street where significant architectural enhancements blended functional workspace with heritage character. More recent moves include the transition to Exa House on Paterson Street in 2019, followed by a return to Cameron Street in 2023, now housed in the historic old Post Office building. The firm has been shaped by several distinguished legal partners including Geoff Chaplin, John Wilson, Don Wing, Ray Bailey, Bruce Doolan, Tim Ellis and Philip Welch, whose contributions have been integral to its reputation.
