About Christopher
Christopher Hughes has practised exclusively in Family Law since his admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1989. With over three decades of experience, Chris has developed a comprehensive understanding of all facets of Family Law. He received recognition for his expertise early in his career, achieving accreditation as a Family Law Specialist by the Law Society of New South Wales in 1994. Chris's professional background includes serving as an acting Deputy Registrar at the Sydney Registry of the Family Court of Australia. He has also held leadership roles such as Chairperson of the Far North Coast Family Law Practitioners’ Association and has been a long-standing panel member of the Legal Aid Commission of New South Wales as an Independent Children’s Lawyer. In this capacity, he has represented children in numerous complex and sensitive parenting matters. He is actively involved in several legal associations, including the Law Society of New South Wales, the Far North Coast Law Society, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Queensland Family Law Practitioners’ Association, the Far North Coast Family Law Practitioners’ Association, and the Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators. Until recently, Chris also served as the National Chair of the Regional Liaison Committee of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. Chris approaches each case with meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for his clients. He is dedicated to resolving family law matters through negotiation wherever possible, minimising the need for costly and stressful court proceedings. Recognising the emotional challenges clients often face, Chris provides ongoing support and, when appropriate, refers clients to health professionals to assist them during difficult times.
