About Kara
Kara Albore is a Principal Lawyer who brings a wealth of experience across criminal law, family law, and intervention order matters. She completed her secondary education at Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School before undertaking her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce degrees, with majors in Economics and Finance, at Deakin University, graduating in 2013. Following admission to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria, where she was admitted by her father, also a Principal Lawyer, Kara has built a reputable practice focused on achieving practical and compassionate results for her clients. Before admission, Kara gained valuable legal experience working for over five years as a Legal Assistant at Slater + Gordon Lawyers, primarily in personal injury law. Since commencing practice, she has handled a broad range of criminal matters, including drink driving, assault, domestic and family violence, sexual offences, drug possession and trafficking, fraud, and property offences. Notably, she has appeared successfully in criminal trials involving indictable offences and has had success in negotiating charge withdrawals and applying for discontinuances. Her advocacy extends to contested hearings, bail applications, and appeals. Kara also dedicates time to provide pro bono assistance to clients in need. Kara’s approach to law is grounded in a strong commitment to rehabilitation and understanding the factors underlying criminal behaviour, a perspective she deepens by studying towards a Bachelor of Psychology. In family law, she regularly represents clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in parenting and property matters. She is particularly focused on cases involving parents affected by criminal charges or incarceration, prioritising the wellbeing of children and fostering positive family relationships. Kara completed the Independent Children’s Lawyer course in August 2024 to further support her work in this area. Combining extensive court experience, legal knowledge, and a compassionate approach, Kara aims to secure the best possible outcomes tailored to the unique circumstances of each client. Motivated by the desire to honour her late father’s legacy, she continues to develop her practice with dedication and integrity. Outside of her legal career, Kara enjoys spending time with her Toy Cavoodle, Hudson, and supporting her family. A passionate Melbourne Demons follower, she is often found cheering on her team at the MCG.
