About Vanessa
Vanessa Bleyer leads Bleyer Lawyers, bringing a robust background in both transactional and litigation work gained through extensive experience at established Victorian firms. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in politics. Between 1998 and 2001, Vanessa expanded her expertise by managing Internet companies, which sparked her interest in commercial and intellectual property matters. Her legal practice focuses on resolving disputes, commercial litigation, negotiating and settling commercial transactions, as well as drafting a wide range of commercial contracts. Vanessa has maintained a long-standing commitment to conservation law, particularly in its application within commercial contexts. Her work spans multiple levels of government, engaging with local municipal issues, state and federal matters, and providing advice to international conservation organisations. Her community involvement is extensive. Vanessa served as Chairperson of Environment Tasmania Inc from 2012 to 2015 and was President of Lawyers for Forests Inc between 2003 and 2007, rejoining its committee in 2021. She contributed to the Architects Registration Board of Victoria as a board member from 2006 to 2012 and again joined its Tribunals Panel in 2018. Recognised for her dedication to access to justice, Vanessa received the Law Institute of Victoria’s President’s Award in both 2006 and 2012. She has played a leadership role with the West Tamar Council as Chair of its Northern Area Advisory Group and has been a member of the Greens Beach Advisory Committee since 2015. Additionally, Vanessa serves as a board member of Community Care Tasmania since 2017, became a Registered Migration Agent (MARN 1797686) the same year, and joined the board of Landcare Tasmania Inc in 2022. From 2023 to 2024, she acted as the spokesperson for native forests on behalf of The Australia Institute. Vanessa’s diverse experience and community engagement reflect her commitment to applying legal expertise in both commercial and environmental arenas, offering clients a nuanced understanding of complex legal and regulatory landscapes.
