Sonya Teerman

Sonya Teerman is the Principal of the firm and brings a wealth of legal experience, particularly in matters arising out of the coal mining industry, representing Western and Southern coal miners. She continues the tradition of efficient and effective service established by Barry F Cosier & Associates. Sonya's legal career commenced in the workers’ compensation claims department at Zurich Insurance, providing her with a strong foundation in both workers’ compensation and personal injury law. She has since worked with a number of reputable firms, including G H Healey & Co and Pieterse & Pieterse in Sydney, where she acted on behalf of insurers and self-insurers in workers’ compensation and common law claims involving major clients such as Mayne Nickless and various local councils. Sonya also served as an Associate with Matthews Dooley & Gibson, a firm known for its comprehensive legal services across Western Sydney. In addition to her extensive work with workers’ compensation and personal injury, Sonya has developed a broad practice in family law and criminal law, addressing the diverse needs of members and their families. She approaches family law matters with sensitivity, understanding the personal impact involved, and prioritises timely resolution through alternative dispute resolution methods where appropriate.
